The Laser Society of Japan (LSSJ) was established in 1973 for the purpose of promoting research and development of lasers and their application technologies, and their development and dissemination. Since then, the society has been active as the only academic information exchange organization related to lasers in Japan.
In 1960, with the successful oscillation of the ruby laser by T.H. Maiman, a completely new type of high-quality, controllable light, the laser, appeared. Since then, lasers have been rapidly and widely adopted in advanced industrial fields such as processing, information transmission and recording, optical communications, measurement, and medicine. In our daily life, laser technology has become more and more familiar through optical discs, laser printers, laser scalpels, speedometers, holography, and other devices. In the field of high power laser applications such as isotope separation and laser fusion, years of research and development have resulted in remarkable progress, and some of them are approaching the practical level. In these times, the Laser Society of Japan wishes to contribute to the academic development of lasers as a common forum for laser-related people.
We welcome many people to join us.
